Corrections Information - McHenry County Sheriff's Office (2024)

This report is designed to display inmates who are current McHenry County inmates and will exclude all federal detainees and anyone who is deemed a “juvenile” by the system. This report will also display inmates who have been released within the last 3 days. Weekenders or those who are temporary out of the facility will not appear, but will reappear once they are back in the facility.

Bond may be posted for inmates 24 hours a day at the McHenry County Correctional Facility, except during shift change (6:00-6:30 AM, 2:00-2:30 PM, and 10:00 PM-10:30 PM).

Acceptable payment methods include:

• Cash
  • If you are posting bond with cash, you need to have the exact amount for the bond and bail processing fee. Only the exact amount will be accepted. The facility does not have a way to make change and can not keep anything extra.
• MasterCard, Visa, or Discover
  • You will be charged a credit card fee for use.
• Cashier’s checks will only be accepted after being approved on a case-by-case basis by the Circuit Clerk’s Office. The jail must receive notification of the approval from the Circuit Clerk’s Office before the cashier’s check will be accepted for bond.

A $28.00 processing fee will be applied when bond is posted.

Crime victims and other concerned citizens can use the Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) service for access to timely and reliable information about criminal cases and the custody status of offenders 24 hours a day. Victims can inquire about the current status of an offender and register for notifications via text, email, or telephone in the event of an offender’s release, escape, transfer, or court appearance.

• VINE communicates with jail and prison booking systems in near real-time, transmitting updated information to the Appriss Data Network™.
• Crime victims and the general public can access the information by calling a local toll-free number or visitingwww.vinelink.comany time of the day or night.
• Victims can inquire whether an offender is held in jail, as well as the facility’s location.
• Users can register to be notified immediately of a change in the offender’s status, such as release, transfer or escape.
• When a notification is triggered, VINE automatically calls the number or numbers the victim has provided.
• Calls continue for a designated period of time or until the victim enters a four-digit PIN.

• U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), is committed to protecting the public and ensuring that the rights of victims are carefully observed.
• HSI administers the ICE –Victim Notification Program which allows eligible victims and witnesses to obtain reliable and timely information regarding a criminal alien’s release from custody. However, victims and witnesses are required to register with HSIin order to receive notification of a criminal alien’s release at the following address: www.ice.gov/victim-notification

All mail must be sent to the facility through the U.S. Postal Service and cannot be dropped off for detainees/inmates. Excluding weekends, holidays and pressing circ*mstances, incoming mail will be delivered to detainees/inmates no later than 24 hours after it is received from the Post Office. Excluding weekends, holidays and exigent circ*mstances, outgoing mail will be forwarded to the Post Office no later than 24 hours after it is received from the detainee/inmate.

There will be no incoming or outgoing mail on the weekends or holidays.

All incoming mail must be clearly addressed to include the inmate’s full name, ID number, sender name and return address. Mail received without the sender’s name and return address will be considered unauthorized and will be placed in the inmate’s property and not returned to them until their release.

Correspondence from other inmates is prohibited. This includes using a third-party outside the facility to circulate mail back to the facility.

Letters and Cards

• No ornamentation such as musical, plastics, wood, metals, cloth, ribbon, cord, etc.
• No adhesives, paints, colored pencils, crayons, or any foreign substance.
• No altered paper, discolored paper, or runny ink.
• No glitter, perfume, or lipstick.
• No blank paper, stamps, or envelopes.

Pictures

• No more than 10 photos (printed on photo paper) per envelope.
• No photos larger than 4″x6″ unless printed on a standard sheet of paper.
• No Polaroid photos.
• No photos depicting alcohol, drugs, gang affiliation, or weapons (real or fake).
• No nudity or sexual content.

If unauthorized items are received in the mail, the entire letter and contents will be returned to sender.

Books, Magazines, or Periodicals

All items sent in must be pre-approved by the Mail Officer. To get pre-approval fill out and submit the form below. Failure to get the title of the item pre-approved will result in it being returned to the sender. All items shall be subject to rejection at any time based on content even if previously approved. Return shipping costs for unauthorized items will be the responsibility of the purchaser. Return shipping labels can be sent to MCJBooks@mchenrycountyil.gov. Unauthorized items can also be picked up at the McHenry County Correctional Facility Monday – Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. excluding holidays.Any unauthorized items not returned to the publisher or picked up within 60 days of receiving it will be destroyed.

At a minimum, all incoming material must meet the following criteria:

• Must come directly from the publisher.
• No hardcovers.
• No staples, or fasteners.
• No material depicting alcohol, drugs, gang affiliation, or weapons (real or toys).
• No nudity, or sexual content.

Books will be stamped McHenry County Jail upon being received as they are considered a donation. Once the inmate has had an opportunity to read the item, it will be donated to the Corrections Library. No books will be placed in an inmate’s property at any time for any reason.

Funds for commissary can be received in three ways:

• Recommended: Go online to Access Corrections (accesscorrections.com) or call 866-345-1884. Enter in the recipient’s information and follow the prompts to send funds.
• Option 2:Use the kiosk machinethat is located in the front lobby of the jail. Cash or credit card accepted.
• Option 3: Send a money order made payable to the McHenry County Jail. The inmate’s name and commissary account number must be entered in the memo field. This process can take up to one week.
