The Best Cards To Upgrade Your Eldrazi Incursion MH3 Precon Deck (Magic: The Gathering) (5)

The Eldrazi Incursion MH3 Precon Deck in Magic: The Gathering is gaining traction as one of the most powerful new sets to play in the commander format. This is because you are playing new and old Eldrazi titan creatures with large amounts of colorless mana to get them online as fast as you can. Adding and cutting cards to upgrade this deck might be difficult as there are so many variations to choose from. In the end, it is all up to your budget and what you can get before you want to play with it.

The main goal surrounding the Eldrazi Incursion Precon Deck of Magic: The Gathering is using Ulalek to copy the casting abilities of other Eldrazi creatures. However, since this is part of the commander format, it might take a while to get these creatures on your board, which is where the term "ramp" comes in, adding many ways to get colorless energy on the battlefield. The more ways you can play by adding mana on the battlefield, the more likely you are to play the large game-changing effects that Ulalek and the other Eldrazis can do to guarantee a win.

The Best Cards to Upgrade the Eldrazi Incursion MH3 Precon Deck

When upgrading the Eldrazi Incursion MH3 Precon Deck, look at the abilities of the new and old Eldrazi creature cards. Anything that has synergy with other Eldrazi creatures to put them into play faster or make them indestructible will instantly win you the game. Since Eldrazis are mostly colorless creatures, look for colorless mana adding cards as well that can benefit your entire board greatly.

Card

Description/Effect

Reasoning

Nulldrifter

  • When you cast this spell, draw two cards.
  • Annihilator 1 (Colorless)
  • Evoke 2 (Island)
  • This card provides card draw.
  • The cast effect is doubled by Ulalek
  • Strong when cast for 7 mana.

Conduit of Ruin

  • When you cast Conduit of Ruin, you may search your library for a colorless creature card with a converted mana cost 7 or greater, reveal it, then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it.
  • The first creature spell you cast each turn costs 2 less to cast.
  • "Tutor card" that can get you any creature you need.
  • It makes other creatures easier to cast each turn.

Thief of Existence

  • Devoid (This card has no color.)
  • When you cast this spell, exile up to one target noncreature, nonland permanent an opponent controls with mana value 4 or less. If you do, Thief of Existence gains "When this creature leaves the battlefield, target opponent draws a card."
  • This is a cheap removal spell to cast that can be copied with Ulalek's ability.

Kozilek, the Broken Reality

  • When you cast this spell, up to two target players each manifest two cards from their hands. For each card manifested this way you draw a card.
  • Other colorless creatures you control get +3/+2
  • One of the new Eldrazi titans to come with the MH3 set.

Ulamog, the Defiler

  • When you cast this spell, target opponent exiles half their library rounded up.
  • Ward--Sacrifice two permanents
  • Ulamog, the Defiler enters the battlefield with a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to the greatest mana value among cards in exile.
  • Ulamog has annihilator X, where X is the number of +1/+1 counters on it.
  • One of the new Eldrazi titans to come with the MH3 set.

Emrakul, the World Anew

  • When you cast this spell, gain control of all creatures target players controls.
  • Flying, protection from spells and from permanents that were cast this turn.
  • When Emrakul, the World A new leaves the battlefield, sacrifice all creatures you control.
  • Madness--Pay six (colorless mana)
  • One of the new Eldrazi titans to come with MH3 set.

Scavenger Grounds

  • Tap to add colorless mana to your mana pool.
  • 2 Mana--Sacrifice a Desert: Exile all cards from all graveyards.
  • Interacting with all graveyards is good in the commander format to stop opponents from using recursion or reanimation.
  • Land that adds colorless mana.

Darksteel Monolith

  • Indestructible
  • Once each turn, you may pay 0 rather than pay the mana cost for a colorless spell you cast from your hand.
  • Cannot be taken out of the battlefield unless exiled.
  • The GuysThatMagic emphasize that this card must be in the deck to cast Eldrazi creatures for no mana.

Ugin's Labyrinth

  • Imprint--When Ugin's Labyrinth enters the battlefield, you may exile a colorless card with mana value 7 or greater from your hand.
  • Tap to add colorless mana. If a card is exiled with Ugin's Labyrinth, add two colors mana instead.
  • Tap to return the exiled card to its owner's hand.
  • In this deck, there is almost always an ancient tomb that doesn't deal damage to you.
  • One of the best lands added in the Modern Horizons 3 set to help play high mana-costing cards.

Echoes of Eternity

  • If a triggered ability of a colorless spell you control or another colorless permanent you control triggers, that ability triggers an additional time.
  • Whenever you cast a colorless spell, copy it. You may choose new targets for the copy.
  • This is an enchantment that follows up as a second source of Ulalek's ability.

Cards to Cut from the Eldrazi Incursion Deck MH3 Precon Deck

The Best Cards To Upgrade Your Eldrazi Incursion MH3 Precon Deck (Magic: The Gathering) (8)

Cards that need to be cut from Magic: The Gathering's Eldrazi Incursion MH3 Precon are worthless in this strong commander deck. They either have no use for Ulalek, Fused Atrocity or can be replaced very easily with something better. This is because the goal is to copy abilities to "stack shenanigans", which is what is stated in

Card Kingdom's blog post about their ideal upgrades and cuts.

Card

Description/Effect

Reasoning

Spawnbed Protector

  • At the beginning of your end step, return up to one target Eldrazi creature card from your graveyard to your hand. Create two 1/1 colorless Eldrazi Scion creature tokens with "Sacrifice this creature: Add 1 colorless mana."
  • This "ramp" ability would be better on a creature with a lower mana cost. This deck does not need "ramp" once it gets to 7 mana of any color.

Mutated Cultist

  • Devoid
  • When you cast this spell, remove all counters from up to one target permanent or opponent. The next spell you cast this turn costs 1 mana less to cast for each counter removed this way.
  • Deathtouch
  • This creature is very specific against decks that create counters.
  • It can be cut for other benefitting cards.

Inversion Behemoth

  • At the beginning of combat on your turn, switch the power and toughness of each of any number of target creatures until end of turn.
  • This deck already has creatures with high power. This ability will not give benefits to the Ulalek deck.

Twins of Discord

  • Whenever you attack, choose odd or even. Creatures with mana value of that quality can't block this turn.
  • Each other colorless creature you control has bloodthirsty 2.
  • There are other colorless creatures that Ulalek can synergize with.
  • You want other cast effects rather than attack effects.

Ulamog's Dredsire

  • Vigilance
  • Ward--Sacrifice a permanent with mana value 1 or greater
  • Tap to create a 10/10 colorless Eldrazi creature token
  • For 10 mana, you'd want a cast ability, much like other Eldrazi creatures that Ulalek can copy.

Bismuth Mindrender

  • Devoid
  • Menace
  • Whenever Bismuth Mindrender deals combat damage to a player, that player exiles cards from the top of their library until they exile a nonland card. You may cast that card by paying life equal to the spell's mana value rather than paying its mana cost.
  • Trading life for mana which doesn't always help your gameplay.
  • There are better four-mana utility cards that can replace this commander card.

Oblivion Sower

  • When you cast Oblivion Sower, target opponent exiles the top four cards of his or her library, then you may put any number of land cards that player owns from exile onto the battlefield under your control.
  • You can miss fairly often with this card, which is not worth using, since commander decks run an average of 33 lands.

Opal Palace

  • Tap to add 1 colorless mana to your mana pool.
  • Tap 1 mana to add one many of any color in your commander's color identity. If you spend this mana to cast your commander, it enters the battlefield with a number of additional +1/+1 counters on it equal to the number of times its been cast from the command zone this game.
  • There are better utility lands for this commander deck.

Azlask, the Swelling Scourge

  • Whenever Azlask, the Swelling Scourge or another colorless creature you control dies, you get an experience counter.
  • 1 mana of every color: Creatures you control get +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of experience counters you have. Scions and Spawns you control gain indestructible and annihilator 1 until end of turn.
  • This is the alternate commander of the deck.
  • Its strategy is different from what Ulalek, Fused Atrocity wants to do. It doesn't synergize well.

Idol of Oblivion

  • Tap to draw a card. Activate only if you created a token this turn.
  • Tap 8 mana, sacrifice Idol of Oblivion to create a 10/10 colorless Eldrazi creature token.
  • There are better card draw options that don't rely on creating tokens each turn.
  • For 8 mana there are better creature "finisher" cards that can be doubled with Ulalek.
